Bands of America is holding one of their regional marching band competitions all-day Saturday in Midland at Grande Communications Stadium.

 

The Bands of America competition will feature 19 West Texas high school marching bands from the Permian Basin, South Plains and Panhandle.

All four Lubbock ISD high school marching bands are participating in the contest: Lubbock High, Monterey, Coronado and Estacado. In addition, Lubbock-Cooper and Frenship are also participating.

The preliminary competition begins Saturday morning at 10:30 a.m. and will conclude at approximately 4:30 p.m. After the prelims are finished, the stadium will be cleared. Then, the gates will open for the finals at 6:45 p.m. with performances beginning at 7:45 p.m. The top 10 finishing marching bands will have the opportunity to advance to the Bands of America Super Regional to be held in San Antonio on November 2 & 3.

Individual tickets start at $18, with non-performing student group tickets starting at $10. Children 10 years-old or younger are admitted free for general admission seating.

Here are the times the Lubbock ISD schools, Lubbock-Cooper and Frenship will march in the preliminary round:

11:15 a.m. - Estacado High School
11:30 a.m. - Coronado High School
2:00 p.m.  - Lubbock-Cooper High School
2:15 p.m.  - Frenship High School
3:00 p.m. - Lubbock High School
4:00 p.m. - Monterey High School
