Update #2: Around 6 a.m. Wednesday morning, Lubbock ISD called parents to inform them that all classes for the day were canceled.

Update: Late Tuesday night, Frenship ISD announced they would be closing all their schools for Wednesday, October 28th due to winter weather. This includes both virtual learning and in-person classes.

Original post: Lubbock ISD, Frenship ISD and Lubbock-Cooper ISD have announced that classes for Wednesday, October 28th, 2020 will be delayed due to inclement weather.

Lubbock ISD Superintendent Dr. Kathy Rollo said in a statement that:

"Students are to report to class by 10 a.m. and buses will run on a two-hour delay. Staff should report to their schools using extreme caution, but in ample time to prepare for students. The National Weather Service has indicated a high possibility for another round of freezing rain and/or snow in the city tonight and into Wednesday morning. If the decision is made to cancel face-to-face and virtual instruction, it will be communicated by phone call, email, and text; updates on our social media accounts, website, and Lubbock ISD-TV."

Frenship ISD classes are also delayed by two hours, starting at 10 a.m. Buses are scheduled to run a regular route two hours later than normal on pavement only. If there are any additional changes, parents will receive a call from the district, and information will be posted to Frenship ISD's social media pages.

Lubbock-Cooper ISD will be running on a two-hour delay as well, and cancellation is possible if weather conditions worsen.

It was also announced that classes at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center and Texas Tech Physicians will start at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, October 28th.

All departments will be monitoring the weather and road conditions over night and into the morning hours in case any changes occur.
