Lubbock ISD Formalizes Hiring of New Head Football Coach for Lubbock High School
Thursday morning (March 24th), the Lubbock ISD Board of Trustees approved the hiring of a new head football coach/campus athletic coordinator for Lubbock High School.
Juan Rodriguez comes to Lubbock High School after previously coaching and teaching at Corpus Christi Carroll High School. Last season, Rodriguez was the head football coach at Corpus Christi Carroll, and he has previous coaching stops in Mathis, Galena Park and Victoria ISD's.
Rodriguez is the third new head football coach/campus athletic coordinator hired by Lubbock ISD this offseason. Last month, William Blaylock, Sr. was hired to coach at Estacado High School and Judd Thrash was hired to take over the Monterey Plainsmen.

Juan Rodriguez is the new athletic coordinator and head football coach at Lubbock High School. Rodriguez comes to Lubbock ISD from Carroll High School in Corpus Christi, where he was serving as the head football coach. His high school coaching experience began in 1999 as a defensive coordinator at Flour Bluff High School. Rodriguez has also made stops in Mathis ISD, Galena Park ISD, and Victoria ISD. He earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise sport science from Southwest Texas State University and master’s degrees in secondary education and educational administration from Texas A&M University - Corpus Christi. Rodriguez and his wife, Lisa, have two children: Matthew and Olivia.
