Lubbock County commissioners met Monday morning (July 25th) at the Lubbock County courthouse and approved a pay raise for some elected officials and employees.
In a 3-2 vote, Lubbock County Commissioners approved a 2 percent pay increase for some elected officials and employees. The pay raise included an increase in pay for Lubbock County commissioners and the Lubbock County judge. Commissioners Terence Kovar and Chad Seay voted against the pay raise, while Lubbock County Judge Curtis Parrish, County Commissioner Jason Corley and Commissioner Gilbert Flores all voted in favor.
Unnamed sources close to KFYO told KFYO News that some elected officials in Lubbock County wanted a much higher pay increase due to inflation and cost of living. Those not receiving pay increases according to past reports include district judges, Lubbock County court-at-law judges and appellate judges.
Reported salary increases will come out to roughly $2,000 for the sheriff, Lubbock County commissioners and the Lubbock County judge. Raises will reportedly go into effect in October.
