The Lubbock Police Department on Thursday confirmed that some skeletal remains found near Buffalo Springs Lake belong to missing Lubbock woman, 38-year-old Vicki Gray.

Detectives are still trying to piece together exactly when and how she died.

Vicki Gray was first reported missing on June 6th, 2019. It was confirmed on Oct. 1st, 2020 that her skeletal remains were found back in May 2020 after someone discovered them near County Road 7100 and FM 835, which is just southwest of Buffalo Springs Lake.

Gray was reported to be homeless at the time of her disappearance. Her mother, Lorrie Gray, spoke with KAMC News about how her daughter was involved with drugs and may have put herself in a dangerous situation.

“She was bound and determined she was going to do what she wanted to do. No matter the cost. And this cost her her life,” Lorrie Gray explained over the phone to KAMC News. Mrs. Gray also talked about how kind her daughter was and how she would "do anything for anybody.”

At one point during the investigation into Vicki Gray’s disappearance, Lubbock police did label 31-year-old Timothy Edens as a person of interest in the case, but charges were never brought against him. It's unclear if he is still a person of interest.

The investigation into Gray’s death and the circumstances that led up to it are ongoing, and the Lubbock Police Department has not yet announced if foul play is suspected.

If you have any information on Gray’s death, you’re urged to contact Detective Jordon Bonds at 806-300-6621.
