Two Counts of Bestiality Against 24-Year-Old in Lubbock
A 24-year-old in Lubbock was recently arrested after being charged with multiple crimes, including two separate counts of bestiality towards a dog.
A Complaint from Animal Services
Everything Lubbock reported that it started back on February 5, 2025, when Lubbock Animal Services received a concerning email depicting 24-year-old Laura Russell engaging in sexual and lewd acts with a dog.
Someone close to the young adult told authorities that Russell engaged in zoophilia, the sexual fixation towards animals, having admitted to having intercourse with two different dogs thus far.
Russell's criminal history includes an event from April 2025 where an argument ensued inside a mechanic shop and a pocket knife was used to damage property.
Russell was arrested on February 25, 2026, but posted bail shortly thereafter.
Bestiality Punishments in Texas
The act of performing sexual acts with animals is a felony in the State of Texas. Bestiality became its own law in 2017 during the 85th Texas Legislature. This doesn't mean it wasn't illegal before then, it was just classified under the public lewdness law instead.

This crime is punished as a state jail felony which means up to two years confinement and a fine of up to $10,000.
Did you also know that bestiality charges in Texas can require you to register as a sex offender? Not that you needed any more incentive to NOT do this... I hope.
