The 2024 Met Gala just took place, and it is the talk of the town when it comes to pop culture news.

Like any other time this massive event has taken place, everyone is focused on the wide array of outfits, who is wearing what, who fit that year’s theme the best, so on and so forth.

The 2024 Met Gala’s theme was The Garden of Time and featured an exhibition titled “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.” It featured around 250 items from the Costume Institute’s collection, including garments that are never to be worn again, but featured to show their beauty and history.

While the event is technically centered around said exhibit, the public is mostly focused on the celebrities and their outfits.

After seeing what was worn this year, it had me wondering what sort of outfits we might see if there were a Met Gala themed after the Hub City, Lubbock, Texas. I was especially influenced by Tyla’s sand look, because it had me thinking about all of the dirt here in West Texas.

The exhibit would have to be based on Lubbock history in some way. Either featuring Texas Tech, Buddy Holly, or maybe ranching heritage. While I’m sure we’d all love to see that happen, it most definitely will not. Either way, I can still imagine what a few of the looks might be like.

Keep scrolling for a few examples of what I think a Lubbock themed Met Gala would look like.
