Is This Classic 2004 Canned Food Commercial the Best Commercial?
If you were born in the 80's or 90's then you might remember one of the best foods to ever grace your grocery store shelves, Chef Boyardee! That's right Chef Boyardee was just the best food of the 80's, 90's, and early 2000's with kids everywhere wanting to eat the spaghetti and meatballs, alphabet letters, or the best can out there...ravioli.
I as a child would eat Chef Boyardee ravioli four times a week while I watched Gargoyles or Batman on the couch. I'm basically transporting you to a simpler time with big overalls and choker necklaces. Now the classic commercial that seems to stand out in the minds of everyone is the classic "Rolling Can" commercial from 2004.
In this commercial a little girl instantly grabs a can of Chef Boyardee and her mother instantly tells her she can't have any because she's had it almost every night. This is truly an outrage because at that time Chef is life for this little girl but her mother just ruins that way of life for her daughter.
After the girl puts the can back it's like some kind of magic ensues and a whistle to summon the spirit of Chef Boyardee himself takes over the can and it rolls out of the store. It rolls by itself, which is important, and leaves the store with no one paying for the can which is not stealing but more like the can running away.
The can finds the girl and sits in her lap like some kind of puppy awaiting to popped open and devoured. It's a truly beautiful sight but leaves everyone to wonder, what other foods are sentient enough that they want to be eaten? Is this commercial weird or a classic case of nostalgia? Let us know if there are any other commercials or old products that we should talk about or made you feel weird or wish you could summon with a whistle.
