It isn't often you see something like this come along. There is an entire school up for sale in the Texas panhandle. I'm sure there are many rules and stipulations that come with it, but it's still an opportunity to own your very own schoolhouse.

All kidding and joking aside, this is an awesome opportunity for someone to step in and protect a piece of panhandle history.

According to the local lore, it was the original schoolhouse in Plemons. It went up to the 8th grade. Now, it's part of the consolidated school district made up of Plemons, Stinnett, and Phillips.

It's sad to see something with so much history go up for sale. The last thing you want to see is for it to wind up in the wrong hands, or at the hands of a contractor who has some "bright ideas" for the property. Something like this needs to be protected.

What's not sad would be finally owning your school and getting to do whatever you want inside of it, guilt-free. No more will there be a teacher to yell at you to hustle. Now you can meander and loiter as you please.

Either that or take off at a dead sprint. No one can tell you to slow it down when you own the school. Prop your feet up on the desk, any desk, and kick back. Write whatever you want up on the blackboard.

The possibilities are endless.

Hopefully, someone can purchase the school and honor the historic importance it has on the school district. Be looking for more information in the Borger News Herald on Oct 26.

Main Streets of the Texas Panhandle

Main Streets are the heart of our towns. They were the place to be, the place to shop, the place to bank, the place to eat.

Over the years, Main Streets have gone by the wayside, but some of our towns have had huge revitalization of their main streets.
