The Smokehouse Creek Fire is still blazing in the Texas Panhandle, currently ranking as the second-largest fire in Texas history. 500,000 acres and counting have already been scorched. Windy, dry conditions are to blame for its rapid spread. Several areas have been evacuated. According to CNN, since the fire began on Monday, it has spread at an average rate of 150 football fields every single minute.

I woke up in Lubbock, Texas this morning, over 100 miles away from the blaze, and the smell of smoke was present in the hallway of my apartment complex. I thought for a moment that my building was on fire.

TikTok creators have taken to the app to post tons of really terrifying footage of the blaze. Check out the collection of videos below to see just how devastating this situation truly is.

So, what can you do to help the Texas Panhandle?

Right now is the time for first responders to shine. Avoid areas that are closed off and make sure firefighters have access to do their job. Stay indoors and if you are in the area of the wildfire, be sure to keep up to date with the news in the event you need to evacuate. It's also never a bad idea to donate food, clothing, and other essentials to nearby shelters. There are also some great ways to help first responders in the area. Check out this Facebook post:
