Summer is coming FAST, and Lubbock summers aren't just hot, they are a full-body experience.

First of all, your car is no longer just a means of transportation. It's a trap. You open the door and get hit with a blast of heat that feels VERY personal. The steering wheel? It's untouchable. The seatbelt buckle? A weapon. And you always forget, but you grab it anyway.

And then, there's the sprint. Every single Lubbock resident has mastered the art of running from the parking lot and into the air-conditioned indoors as fast as humanly possible. Bonus points are awarded to EVERYONE because you're probably wearing flip-flops.

And let’s talk about the classic line: “It’s not that bad, it’s a dry heat.” No. I refuse to listen to that nonsense. An oven is no better than a sauna.

During summer in Lubbock, you also start planning your entire life around the sun. You'll want to run your errands before noon, and probably turn down every single outdoor activity that starts at 3. No thanks.

Somehow, you get used to it. You start saying things like, "Honestly, today isn't THAT bad," when it's 97 degrees. And, when that first slightly cooler day finally hits, the windows come down, and like magic, everyone's mood improves. Funny how that works.

Here's your reminder that summer is on its way. Make sure you get your air conditioner tuned up and ready to go. You're going to need it. It'll be a scorcher. It always is. Trust me.
