I find this completely odd. Seriously, if this was a game show, I would have lost the million dollars and been denied even a small parting gift.

Google Trends

It's very easy to pop over to Google Trends and see what people are Googling from your area, or any area that you might be interested in. In this particular instance Google delivered a report on report on search with "(Blank) Near Me". The results seem unusual even now. Usually when we check something like this out we say, "Oh, yeah, I can see that.." but not really this time.

It's A Food Item

I guess we'll call it food. I'm surprised it wasn't "Mexican Food", "Barbeque", or something more specific like "Chicken Fried Steak". Instead Lubbockites are searching for a slightly uncommon food.  Even if I told you know it was technically categorized as "Seafood", what would you guess?

The Big Reveal

According to Google Trends in '23:

The Lubbock, TX area was the only place in the U.S. with crawfish near me as a top trending search

I guess the people of Lubbock, Texas have a hankering for mudbugs and don't know where to get them.  While I suppose crawfish are perfectly delightful, I haven't run across anyone talking about them since the days of that frat crawfish festival decades ago.

One Piece Of Trivia

Crawfish can be found around here, but the last time I was actually present at or near a crawfish boil was a long time ago. The very last time the band Hellyeah visited Lubbock, Texas they had a crawfish boil for all of their friends backstage. I'm pretty sure they had a good time, but it really stunk back there the day after.
