Are you ready for temperatures throughout Texas? I know what some of you are thinking, 'it's already been hot, what do you mean am I ready?' Well, yes, it has been hot, but this weekend we seem to be pushing it even hotter throughout the state.

Midland, Odessa and Big Spring can expect temperatures ranging from 104 to 106 degrees, and Pecos is expected to hit 108 degrees on Saturday. Speaking of 108-degree temperatures, Abilene is expected to hit 108 both Saturday and Sunday before "cooling down" to 104 on Monday. Wichita Falls won't be much better off with high temps around 104 to 106 all weekend. DFW temperatures will be in the triple digits as well, with some areas hitting above 104 degrees. And of course in places like DFW, Austin and Houston, all of which are expecting highs in the triple digits, the humidity levels will be higher.

With all the hot weather, you better believe people will be running their air conditioners and staying out of the sun. That means record energy use is possible this weekend. The good news? ERCOT says the grid is ready.

According to FOX News, the grid operator feels good about where the grid is at right now:

But Texas' top energy official says there is no need to worry.

"I can absolutely guarantee the lights are going to stay on in Texas because of the landmark legislation the Texas legislature passed in 2021," said Peter Lake of the Texas Public Utility Commission.

Let's hope the lights and the air conditioners stay on throughout the state. It's going to be a hot weekend for sure.
