Those of us who thought winter was over were slapped in the face with a cold, hard reality this morning when wind chills were around 21 degrees. And while Tuesday was cool enough, weather forecasters and now predicting that Lubbock and the South Plains will see a freeze for at least a few hours overnight and into tomorrow morning.

The good news? Wednesday's high is supposed to be in the upper 50's so it could be a lot worse than it will be. Still, get ready to break out the jackets and coats for at least one more day.

And since many of us were in Spring mode already, don't forget to take care of your plants. Be sure to cover your plants, particularly any new growth or plants you just recently planted. If you can bring plants inside, you should.

Weather forecasters are predicting temperatures in the morning to be anywhere from 28-32 degrees. The National Weather Service has already issued a Freeze Warning until 9 a.m. on Wednesday.

Those hoping for a return to Spring and for a quick warmup are in luck. Lubbock should see the the upper 70's or low 80's by the end of the week with high's around 90 degrees on Monday.

Spring and Summer will be here soon enough, and this may be the final real blast of cold air we get for a while. Before long, people will be complaining about the heat and wishing for Fall temperatures to arrive. We still have a ways to go before that though.
