It's the first day of the week, so let's take a look and listen to the first hit song of one of country music's biggest stars, Conway Twitty.

In fact on this day in 1981, Twitty was on top of the charts with his song "Tight Fittin' Jeans". It was his 31st Number One song.

But his string of Number One country songs started way back in the early 70's. After recording a huge hit song with the rock and roll ballad "It's Only Make Believe" in 1958, he switched over to country in 1965.

In 1970, Twitty hit with his biggest song ever, "Hello Darlin'". It would spend four weeks at the top of the country charts.

Twitty died in 1993 from an abdominal aneurysm after becoming ill while performing in Branson, Missouri.

He was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1999.
