Ever since Lebron James left Cleveland for a more lucrative contract in Miami, he has not been welcome back to the "Buckeye" state. Now comes an ultimate payback in a round about way.

Ohio Governor John Kasich on Monday laid out the welcome mat for the NBA Champions Dallas Mavericks. They beat the Miami Heat 105-95 to win the title.

The governor read a proclamation that declared the Mavericks "honorary Ohioans.

The proclamation didn't mention James, but it pointed to the Mavericks Dirk Nowitzki, who re-signed with Dallas, turning down free agency, staying in Dallas and remaining loyal to team, city and fans.

The Governor went to say that the city of Cleveland and the state of Ohio share with Dallas fans the excitement of the win.

Kasich went on to say the Mavericks are entitled to "all privileges and honors" associated with honorary Ohioans.
