Lubbock Animal Services is hosting their fourth annual Clear the Shelter event on Saturday, September 18th, 2021.

Clear the Shelter is a national event held by NBC Universal. This event brings together over a thousand shelters across the country to help animals in need. The event has been occurring nationally since 2015 and has helped more than 551,000 animals find their forever homes.

Lubbock Animal Services will be hosting their adoption event from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at their shelter, located at 3323 Southeast Loop 289.

The biggest part about this event is that their standard $30 adoption fee will be completely waived. All 250 dogs and 100 cats are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and registered with the city. All you have to do is come by the event and meet the four-legged friend that you want to bring home with you.

The national event was formed to provide low-cost and free adoptions to allow anyone, no matter their financial standing, to adopt a pet.

I do think it's important to understand that owning a pet is not cheap and is a lot of responsibility. So for those that are ready to commit to and provide for a pet, this is a fantastic opportunity to adopt a new member of your family.

There are so many amazing animals out there that need a good home. The best dogs my family ever owned have been adopted, like my current Pitbull, Bear. All these dogs and cats want is a good home with a loving family so they don't have to live out the rest of their lives in the shelter.

If you want to get a sneak peek at the dog or cat you might be interested in adopting, you can view all of their available animals here.
