Cleaning Hacks to Keep Your Sanity and Speed Up Process

Cleaning the house has got to be one of my least favorite things in the world to do. Yes, it takes a lot of time. Though I will be the first to admit that I feel so much better when its done.

Just looking around and smelling a clean house is the best. Still doesn't make the process any more fun. So if we can find some ways to speed up the process its got to make it much easier to handle.

Cleaning the Microwave

I always start with a microwave-safe cup. I pour some vinegar into the cup. Probably about a cup worth and then dilute it with some water. I will put that cup in the microwave for about five minutes. That gives the liquid plenty of time to boil and do a lot of the work for you. When the microwave stops grab a wet paper towel or a dishrag and get to cleaning. All that baked-on garbage and grime will be a breeze to wipe down.

Do You Want Clean Blinds?

This can be time-consuming if you want every last blind dust free. I bought a tool that was supposed to help me clean a few blinds at a time. What a waste of money. So I just grab a sock out of my drawer and spray it down with furniture polish. The polish will help keep the dust off a little longer. I then put the sock on my hand and start cleaning the top and bottom of the blind. It works.

Those Pesky Ceiling Fans Need Cleaning

When my mom came to town that was the one thing she would make sure she noticed. If my ceiling fan blades were clean or not. Usually, they were covered with dust. There is a simple way to clean those. Just grab a pillowcase. Put the pillowcase on each one of the blades and wipe clean. It's great because the pillowcase will catch all the dust. I usually spray the blade with furniture polish first to keep it cleaner longer.

Clean Those Shower Heads or Sink Faucets

If your sink seems to not be giving you the water pressure you need you could need to unclog it. This goes the same for shower heads. If you can't just remove the aerator to the sink or the showerhead do the next best thing. Grab a Ziploc baggie and fill it with vinegar or even some CLR cleaner. Tie the bag around the faucet or showerhead and let it work its magic.

Clean Animal Hair in Carpet

If you have animals you may not even realize how much of their hair is in your carpet. Of course, you vacuum but that doesn't always pull it all up. What will work? Grab a cheap squeegee from the dollar store. Use that squeegee and scrub it through your carpet. You will be amazed how much hair you pull out from deep within.

Make Sure that Garbage Disposal Doesn't Stink

Lemons are pretty darn cheap. They are also a great way to help your kitchen smell lemony fresh. I mean you can use them to clean that garbage disposal which helps with the smell. Grab some lemons and chop them up into pieces. Throw those pieces down the garbage disposal. Go ahead and turn on the cold water and let it run a few seconds. Then turn on your garbage disposal. Voila, you can smell the fresh lemon scent fill up your kitchen. Oh, and lemons are a lot cheaper than buying those products made for cleaning the disposal. That and lemons are a lot more eco-friendly.

Cleaning is never a fun project but you can find some hacks to make it a bit more enjoyable. There is nothing like a clean home to make it worth it.
