Whether it was Carol of Lights at Texas Tech or Candlelight at the Ranch, or the 34th Street Christmas parade, many Christmas favorites were either celebrated virtually or just canceled thanks to the coronavirus pandemic.

This Friday, there will be a chance for you to participate in a little Christmas cheer, in person too! The Lubbock Chamber of Commerce along with the City of Lubbock is hosting a "Drive of Good Cheer" Christmas Car Parade.

The parade will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 18. Those who wish to participate are encouraged to decorate their cars and meet in the north parking lot of the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center. Cars will lineup in the order they arrive and those who participate must use their vehicle's hazard lights.

The Drive of Good Cheer will drive-by both University Medical Center and Covenant Hospital. The parade will end at 34th and Avenue Q. According to a press release, the Chamber and the City of Lubbock wanted to make sure the hospitals were along the parade route.

“We wanted to make sure part of the route went by the hospitals to thank the healthcare workers for all they continue to do for our community,” said Eddie McBride, President/CEO of the Lubbock Chamber. “If we can bring a smile to them and their patients’ faces this holiday season, then the parade will be a success in our book.”
