Hear Brett Young’s Song ‘Long Way Home’ From New Movie ‘Father Stu’
Brett Young has lent his musical talents to a new film starring Mark Wahlberg called Father Stu. The country singer's uplifting song "Long Way Home" is a part of the soundtrack, and just like the film itself, the song touches on the themes of love, faith and redemption.
In the verses, Young speaks to hardships in life: Broken hearts, shattered dreams and the scars that remain only to serve as painful reminders. However, all is not lost, and we can all be found again, he explains.
"You're never really lost if you never stop looking / You gotta keep moving if your heart's on fire / Love is gonna find a way to find you wherever you go / When the clouds get dark and you can't see nothing / Sun still shines on the other side / Everybody gets to heaven on a broken road / Some of us gotta take the long way home," Young sings in the chorus.
Father Stu is based on a true story. It follows the life of Father Stuart Long (Wahlberg), a former boxer who encounters a few bumps in the road. When he's given a second chance at life, he seizes it and becomes a priest. IMDB says the real Long "inspired countless people during his journey from self-destruction to redemption."
The film hits theaters on April 13. Young shared the news about his soundtrack addition on social media, plus a few photos from his meeting with Wahlberg:
The "In Case You Didn't Know" singer released a new country single in 2022, too — "You Didn't" is a breakup song from his album Weekends Look a Little Different These Days. Young recently revealed that the song was inspired by a period of time in which he and his now-wife Taylor had broken up while dating.
