Beloved Lubbock Area Restaurant Announces Closure With Goodbye Meal
After many years working as a chef on luxury yachts around the world, Jon Walter moved back to his hometown of Lubbock in 2019.
After the tamales restaurant took off, he returned to his Le Cordon Bleu culinary training. He cooked French cuisine in his pop-up restaurant in 2021, then opened Chez Sami in 2022.
They serve popular dishes including chicken-fried bobwhite quail, oysters flown in from Prince Edward Island, and duck breast seared on cast-iron in the restaurant’s open kitchen.
This restaurant is also very unique in the sense that they are BYOB (bring your own bottle) friendly which means you can pair your food with the perfect wine or drink every time you go.
They changed the name in Wolfforth from Chez Sami to Il Dolce Far Niente. They do different cuisine popups each week for the community to enjoy.
In November of 2023, Chez Sami expanded and opened in Downtown Lubbock at 1219 Crickets Avenue. The original location in Wolfforth (709, Main St, Wolfforth, TX) is now closing.
Their last day will be on June 15th, 2024 at the Wolfforth location.
"Over the years, we have had the privilege of serving you and creating unforgettable culinary experiences. We are incredibly grateful for your unwavering support and patronage throughout this journey," said Walter.
For the last meal, they put together a special menu to say goodbye.
While they are closing their doors, they are actively looking for a new location to continue their culinary adventures. We will keep you updated on when that happens.
