Back on March 6th, 2023, a fire broke out at one of Lubbock's beloved restaurants, Bryan's Steaks. Since then they have seen an outpour of support.

"I like the steaks. I just thought I would check and see if they are open yet," said Barbara Bray, a frequent Bryan's customer from Plainview.

This restaurant opened more than 50 years ago, spending every day of it serving the Lubbock community. Now having to close down for a while due to the fire back in March.

We usually come on a regular basis. I've known Bryan for a long time, we were young, and now we are old. My husband would come and we all would chat together. When they bought the other place we would go over there too," said Amy Sauceda.

People have been wondering when it is going to open back up and if it is. Thankfully they will be opening back up but it will take a couple of months to fix all the damages.

"It has been a blessing seeing the support from our customers. We don't own anything, the Grace of God does," said Bryan Stratton, the owner of Bryan's Steaks.

People have been showing up at the parking lot every day since the fire to see how things are going or how they can help. They have even talked to people from all over the country to tell their stories about Bryans.
"Dan & I retired in 2020 in the DFW area, and shortly after that, we moved to Tyler.  About 4 years before that, we started vacationing in Ruidoso with our motorhome. Lubbock is a good halfway point for us to stay overnight, so I asked a coworker who used to live in Lubbock about a good place to eat.  She immediately mentioned Bryan's, so we came for the first time and loved it!  It immediately became our new tradition," said Kathy Whitby, a frequent Bryan's customer.
Other people have been coming here since they were little and now take their families.
"I have been coming to Bryan's for a mighty long time. My husband and I, my kids, they grew up here. We just have a good time when we come to Bryan's," said Joyce Brown, a local Lubbock customer.
"I know who pays the bills and it is the customers. If you treat them right, they will treat you right," said Stratton.

Most people are wondering when Bryan's will open again and this is what we know.

"Well I hope tomorrow but I don't think so. We got some architectural engineers looking at it and fire insurance engineers. Then they send back the paperwork and the city will look at it. I am hoping two to five months," said Stratton.

Don't worry the steaks, buffet, salad bar, and ice cream will be back very soon.

"We are going to be as good or better than we were before. We know things happen for a reason, we just have to make the best of it," said Stratton.

Bryan's Steaks is located at 1212 50th Street Lubbock, Tx. They hope to open in this September.

The 13 Best Hole in the Wall Restaurants on 50th Street in Lubbock

These buildings might be unassuming from the outside, but the kitchens absolutely know what's going on. I wasn't as strict on this one as I was on my 34th Street version which you can read if you keep scrolling, but I defend my choices below. If you can get a cash loan in the same strip mall as your pizza, it might be a Hole in the Wall.
