Gerrit Cole is arguably the best pitcher in all of baseball. He finished the 2019 season with a dominant 20-5 record and a 2.50 ERA for the World Series runner-up Houston Astros.

Cole can touch 101 with his fastball, and he can make a batter look utterly foolish when his slider breaks away from the plate. This video shows just how untouchable Cole was during the 2019 season.

Gerrit Cole is a free agent this season and while any team would jump at the chance to have him on the roster, here are five teams I could potentially see Cole ending up with when the dust settles.

    Los Angeles Angels

Gerrit Cole is from Newport Beach, California which makes it seem like an obvious choice he would want to take his talents back home. Double that with the hiring of Joe Madden, and that could be just enough to entice Cole to head West.

    New York Yankees

While Cole has expressed a desire to play out West, you can never rule out the team that drafted him in 2008. The Yankees have struck out the past three seasons on an elite level pitcher and it has cost them every single time. This year, Brian Cashman needs to make a splash and there's no bigger splash than Gerrit Cole.

    Philadelphia Phillies

The Phillies made a huge statement last season when they signed Bryce Harper to a 13-year $330 million dollar contract, however, they missed the postseason. New manager Joe Girardi would love to have an ace like Cole to pair with Aaron Nola hopefully putting the Phillies over the top.

    Washington Nationals

Why would Gerrit Cole go to the team he lost to in the World Series? Because Washington would give him a blank check to sign with them. The Nationals have a ton of cap space and while they would love to re-sign their World Series MVP, Stephen Strasburg, Cole immediately makes them a World Series contender again.

    Houston Astros

After the World Series loss in game 7, Cole all but said goodbye to the Houston Astros and made it clear that he wouldn't be returning. However, Houston hasn't given up hope of re-signing Cole. Astros owner Jim Crane has been quoted saying "we're going to take a run" regarding Gerrit Cole. Crazier things have happened.
