Despite having to deal with the affects of Coronavirus, Texas Tech University is doing the best it can to keep a sense of normalcy to the school year. And to keeping that sense of normalcy is making sure one of the university's annual traditions doesn't get forgotten. That is the annual homecoming week.

While some activities associated with homecoming week, like the annual parade, had to be cancelled. Texas Tech still proceeded with the naming of a homecoming court and the crowing of a homecoming king and queen from the student body.

Normally, the homecoming king and queen are announced during the annual homecoming football game, but for this year, that was moved to Friday night during the virtual pep rally.

Maxwell Raymond, of San Antonio, and Tarah Hill of Nazareth, were crowned the 2020 Homecoming King and Queen. Raymond is a business management major and he represented the Beta Theta Pi fraternity. Hill is a political science major and she represented the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority.

The crowning ceremony was held Friday night inside the Texas Tech Sports Performance Center, located directly south of Jones AT&T Stadium.

Texas Tech's homecoming football game is tomorrow (Oct. 24) against West Virginia with a 4:30pm kickoff, televised on ESPN2. Texas Tech Football is seeking their first Big 12 Conference win of 2020. Get ready for Saturday's game by listening to Rob Breaux's College Tailgate, Saturday morning from 10am-12pm on Talk 1340 and KKAM.com.
