Trailers Believed To Be Part of Cocaine Ring in Lubbock Seized
Lubbock law enforcement officers have asked permission to permanently keep a commercial trailer and a Sunshine Smoke House trailer that were believed to be part of a large cocaine ring.
The commercial trailer, outfitted with a large hickory smoker and generator, was seized from Raul Perez, III and Krystal Ramos. The Sunshine Smoke House trailer was seized from Perez and Jeremy Wayne Beck.
Those 3 were among the 10 people that were accused of running the cocaine ring in Lubbock.
Operation Los Perros De Nieve targeted 9 locations in Lubbock and resulted in the seizure of around $40,000 cash, 11 pounds of cocaine and 13 firearms.
KAMC News reports that Perez documented the entire process of purchasing all the items and equipment for the first trailer on social media. The second trailer included a trip by Perez and Beck to Florida.
For the Florida trip, they visited a location where the movie Scarface was filmed. The seizure report says that the main character in the movie, Tony Montana, is often idolized by cocaine traffickers like Perez and Beck.
Perez is said to have posted on social media about their barbecue business, which he would name "Sunshine Smokehouse." Officers obtained a subpoena for the business account for Sunshine Smoke House and noted that the deposits and withdrawals would not have been enough to maintain the business and several employees.
Officers believe they used the business to launder the proceeds of this unlawful activity.
