Will These Adorable Delivery Robots Make Their Way to Lubbock?
The convenience of contactless delivery options has completely changed the way people order their food, groceries, and other products. It started with apps like Postmates and Uber Eats, but now it's expanded into so much more.
One of the latest advancements in contactless delivery involves robots that will transport your order. These robots are basically coolers on wheels, and I first saw them appear on college campuses to make deliveries from the food halls to the students’ dorms.
These self-driving robots have now expanded as other companies are using them as a delivery method. The most recent development in these robots that I've come across is from a company called Tiny Mile in Toronto, Canada.
I saw a TikTok showing the little pink robot making its way down the sidewalk towards TikToker @its_cindylouwho, who was patiently waiting for her delivery.
The difference between this robot and the ones you’ll find on college campuses is that this one is pink rather than white, and they added more character to the robot by giving it adorable heart-shaped light eyes that appear to blink.
Once the robot arrives at the desired location, it stops and notifies the person waiting for their delivery that it has arrived. To make it even cuter, it even slightly shifts from side to side as it waits, giving it some personality.
Then, you just go into the app, select for the robot's door to open, grab your goodies, and select for the robot to close back up. The little guy turns itself around with a little wobble before zooming back to where it came from.
Tiny Mile says the robot will deliver your snacks within 15 minutes, and it's a cheaper option than other delivery methods. I think it's also a great option for those who don’t want to leave the house to pick up some snacks.
This is such a fun idea, and I would love to see something like it come to Lubbock.
