Christianity is the largest religion in every state, but the next largest may surprise you.

The report from the Washington Post says that more than three-quarters identify as Christians.  Just over half of those are Protestants and around 23 percent are Catholic with two percent Mormon.

The rest of the country is a mix. In 20 states, including Texas and much of the South, Islam is the second biggest religion in each state. In the Western part of the county Buddhists have a much larger showing.  In the Northeast Judaism is the second biggest religion.  Hindus are bigger in Arizona and Delaware.

Data comes from the Association of Statisticians of American Religious Bodies, which conducts a U.S. Religion Census every 10 years.
