We all have our thing. There's a movie, thought, television show, memory — whatever it may be — that makes us ugly cry. Tears streaming down, snot on our face, ugly cry. Country stars are no different. From Miranda Lambert to Kip Moore — no one is immune.

We caught up with some of country’s biggest names to ask them: What makes you ugly cry? And the answers were ... varied. Though one particular trigger kept popping up: the TV show This Is Us. Maren Morris, Tyler Hubbard from Florida Georgia Line, Hillary Scott, Thomas Rhett, Dan + Shay — it takes them all down!

For Lambert, it’s fittingly animal-related. Same for Jon Pardi. “I don’t like seein’ dogs sad or hurt,” he says.

The guys from a Thousand Horses got a little more specific: “The humane society commercials where Sarah McLachlan is singing,” Graham DeLoach admits, and the group agrees. (Honestly, who doesn’t tear up a bit at those?)

Kimberly Schlapman of Little Big Town named a movie that did her in: The Notebook. For Granger Smith, it’s Braveheart.

"I just got a little chill just talking about it," he reveals.

Check out the full video above to find out what else makes these stars sob. Several dozen artists visited with Taste of Country Nights' host Sam Alex prior to the ACM Awards in Las Vegas and talked about the awards, upcoming projects and, well, crying. More confessions below.
