For many Texans, Possum Kingdom Lake is a legend. There are even songs written about it. And one of the most famous parts of Possum Kingdom is what's known as Hell's Gate. But how did it get that name?

And for those of you doubting the story because there's a lake, not rocks, at the bottom of the cliffs, you need to remember that Possum Kingdom Lake is man-made. There hasn't always been a lake there. Look it up.
