Here are our 5 favorite moments from the 2016 Texas Tech Baseball Season:
- 1
Tech Wins First Ever College World Series Game
There will be many more hopefully in the future, but the first one is always the sweetest.
No matter how unceremoniously the season ended this win over number 1 seeded Florida was a definite bright spot.
Freshman Davis Martin pitched a gem. Senior Eric Gutierrez hit a bomb. It was a great day.

Tech Punches Ticket to Omaha With Emphatic Win
The final was 11-0 but it felt like 25-0. The bats were blazing and it was a great time to be a Red Raider. It was even sweeter because the team had to fight back from a game one loss in the best of three Super Regional.
Also, who doesn't love a good old fashioned dog pile.

TCU and Tech Were Soaked in Controversy
That's not the beginning to a hilarious joke, it's an actual thing that happens every time TCU plays a home game.
They call them "showgirls" and they dance on top of the opposing teams dugout. It's a ridiculous, bush league tradition that was the basis of a controversial spillage during the Texas Tech series.
The Showgirls claimed to have been bullied by a classless baseball squad dressed in Red. The Red teams from of abuse came in the form of water droplets that were intentionally rained down upon the spirit squad in tenacious clouds of sprinkling H2O.
Of course once the story was rinsed off the truth shined through. The Texas Tech baseball team had a motto of, "watering the tree" which they reminded each other of by throwing small cups of water into the air.
Any splash back was unintended.
