Steve Gomez knew a win was unlikely when he took his team down to Austin to play the number two team in the Big 12 according to the preseason polls, but that didn't stop his team from competing until the end.

The Longhorns did get the win with a 83-73 final. It was a 4 point game though in the third quarter even after the Longhorns led by 18 in the second quarter and Maddi Chitsey picked up where she left off last season scoring 22 points and grabbing five boards. Madelyn Turner added 18 points as well.

The Lady Chaps bench outscored Texas 15 to 6 and scored 30 points in the paint while only allowing 26. After trailing 27-17 after the first quarter the Lady Chaps actually played even with Texas for the remainder of the game.

Coach Gomez was just excited to see his team outside of a scrimmage setting:

Next up, LCU will take on Baylor in Waco Wednesday October 29th.
