We're quickly coming upon a new year, and while the coronavirus pandemic will still be with us in 2021, some things will be changing.

Back in March, the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles announced a waiver on vehicle registration requirements and certain titles. They did this because of shutdowns and because they didn't want people to gather together in line.

Those waivers will be ending in 2021, but don't worry, you still have time to wait.

According to CBSDFW, the waivers will end on April 14th, 2021. That means you will have to make sure your vehicle title and registration is up to date in order to avoid being cited.

You can renew online at the TexasDMV.gov website, via the mail if you still have your registration renewal form, or you can renew in person at your county tax assessor-collector's office.

The news that the waiver will end in April 2021 had State Representative Jared Patterson asking on Twitter: "why can't we end this unnecessary tax on drivers?"

Remember: in order to get your registration taken care of, you'll have to get your vehicle inspected. According to CBSDFW, the expiring temporary waiver covers the following services:

Initial vehicle registration.
Vehicle registration renewal.
Vehicle titling.
Renewal of permanent disabled parking placards.
30-day temporary permits.

Of course, this could always change and we could see another waiver, but that wouldn't be announced until next year.
