Texas Tech Welcomes Former Player as New Offensive Line Coach

According to texastech.com, Texas Tech head coach Kliff Kingsbury announced the hiring of Brandon Jones as offensive line coach Tuesday, returning the former Red Raider to his alma mater after a two-year stint at the University of California.

"We're excited to welcome Coach Jones to our staff," Kingsbury said. "He's regarded as one of the top offensive line coaches in the country, and our program will benefit from his leadership. We're looking forward to our offensive line continuing to develop under him."

Brandon Jones started 22 games for Texas Tech during his Junior and Senior seasons. He earned an All-Big 12 honorable mention and was a Rimington award candidate for the nation's best center. He was a part of the 31 point comeback in the second half of the Insight bowl against Minnesota, which was the largest comeback in bowl game history.

Jones has been coaching for 10 years at the collegiate level, spending two years at Texas Tech as an offensive assistant in 2007 and 2008. Jones then held positions at Sam Houston State, East Carolina with Ruffin McNeil, and most recently at Cal with Sonny Dykes.

"I'm looking forward to joining Coach Kingsbury and his staff," Jones said. "Texas Tech has been known to produce one of the top offenses in the country each and every season, and I'm fortunate to be able to work with a great group of young men to continue to build on that tradition."

Jones has seen success at every stop in his coaching resume, only missing bowl season for the first time in the 2016 season.

He turned around Cal's program in his time there, and the East Carolina squad rewrote the record books under his watch.

Jones received his degree in Communication Studies from Texas Tech. He's married to the former Latoya Daniels of Fort Worth, Texas. The couple has two children, Jordyn and Londyn.
