After a 1st half that ended in a 10 to 10 between Texas Tech and TCU it seemed as though the offenses would explode in the 3rd Q. That did not happen.

TCU got the ball and converted a fake punt before stalling and punting for real. Not to be outdone Texas Tech would punt it right back.

Douglas Coleman, a Texas Tech freshman DB, would get the Red Raiders 1st turnover on the next TCU possession. Kenny Hill would throw a jump ball into the end zone and and Coleman would come down with it. The turnover would only lead to bad things for Texas Tech who went 3 and out on the next drive.

The Tech punter, Michael Barden, would drop a perfect snap and not get the punt off giving the ball to TCU in the red zone. TCU Head coach Gary Patterson, would bench Kenny Hill in favor of Foster Sawyer.

Sawyer would complete a 9 yard pass before Trevorris Johnson carried it 3 straight times finding the end zone for a 17 - 10 lead with 14 minutes left in the 4th Q.

Texas Tech would not respond on offense. Patrick Mahomes could not find anyone open and struggle to make plays from the pocket, or outside the pocket for that matter.

TCU, behind new QB foster Sawyer, would drive the ball all the way down the field culminating in a 32 yard FG attempt for the TCU Horned Frogs. The TCU kicker would gift a second missed FG to the Texas Tech defense.

Texas Tech would take over at the 20 yard line with a 7 point deficit but a bit of momentum.

Texas Tech would march down the field methodically. 16 plays and 6 plus minutes to score a TD with 1:28 left. Patrick Mahomes would hit Dylan Cantrell on an 8 yard slant to tie the game 17 to 17.

TCU would provide minimum drama to end the game with a 61 yard FG miss that Kliff Kingsbury would gift the Frogs one last shot at the end zone by calling a time out right before the attempt.

TCU won the OT coin toss and selected to play Defense.

Patrick Mahomes would scramble up the middle on Texas Tech's opening possession for a 15 yard touchdown run. This would be Texas Tech's first lead of the game for Texas Tech, 24-17.

Foster Sawyer would respond with 25 yards completion to Desmon White for a TD. The catch would be reviewed but the call on the field would stand, which means there was not enough evidence to overturn it.

2nd OT would feature the Texas Tech defense first who would force TCU into a 3rd and long before forcing a 40 yard field goal attempt, if you can call it that.

Texas Tech would play it conservatively and set up the field goal attempt from Clayton Hatfield, that he would nail from 37 yards out.

The stats in this game will look crazy if you did not watch the game. Texas Tech ran the ball 49 times and only attempted 40 passes. Patrick Mahomes threw for 206 yards. None of the stats matter as much as the mark in the win column though. The Red Raiders are now 4 and 4 and have four more chances for wins in 2016.

The only thing taking the wind out of the sails for Texas Tech is that Patrick Mahomes looked to be in serious pain on the sidelines after clutching his shoulder after his 3rd down run to put Hatfield in the middle of the field for his game winning field goal.

That will be something to keep an eye on before the Texas game next Saturday.
