The Red Raiders basketball team is in a state of flux, like everyone else in college basketball. The transfer portal is absolutely blazing in 2022 with more than 1,000 names in purgatory. We know both Terrence Shannon Jr. and Chibuzo Agbo are heading out, but who's coming to Texas Tech from the portal?

Mark Adams has made his first transfer signing of the offseason official with the announcement of D'Maurian Williams signing his financial aid agreement.

Williams comes to Texas Tech from Gardner-Webb University where he scored more than 730 points in two seasons. With the 2020-21 season not counting against him, he'll be able to have three years of eligibility as a Red Raider if he so chooses.

The Phoenix, Arizona native stands at 6'5" and shot the three at a 40 percent clip last season, scoring in double-digits 24 out of his 29 starts. Williams didn't just shoot 40 percent by chucking up a couple of threes. He made 79 of 201 shots from deep and made three or more from beyond the arc in 17 contests last year.

Coach Adams has some familiarity getting successful transfers out of the Big South Conference where Williams played last season. Adonis Arms also transferred to Texas Tech from the Big South's Winthrop.

Williams joins newcomers Jaylon Tyson, Richard Isaacs, Robert Jennings and Lamar Washington in the 2022 class, with space for several more.

The Red Raiders have three particular targets that are generating a bit of a buzz, to say the least. The first is SMU transfer Kendric Davis, who has heard from nearly every team in America, I think.

That's with good reason. Davis was the AAC Player of the Year in 2022.

The second is big man Fardaws Aimaq. He recently put Texas Tech in his top 5 destinations.

The third is in Lubbock for an official visit today, April 14th, and would be another big add for the Red Raiders, even if he's a little more off-the-radar.

Key averaged 17.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2 assists in 2020-21, but missed last season with a shoulder injury.
