Texas Tech basketball's 2018-2019 season was one for ages, but even in the post-season, the team is defying expectations.

Texas Tech Athletics noted how the Red Raiders and Duke are the only two teams in this year's Elite 8 that  also played there last year.

Texas Tech faces off Saturday, March 30th, against Gonzaga at 5:09 p.m. (CT) on TBS in a showdown that's being nationally-touted as a battle between the Bulldogs' offensive onslaught and the Red Raiders' stalwart defense.

It's that lock-em-down defense which has helped the team thrive in this year's NCAA Tournament.

Texas Tech slammed the door on Michigan in their Sweet 16 matchup, limiting the Wolverines to just 44 points. Before that, in Round 2, they beat Buffalo by 20 points (78-58). And in the first round, the Red Raiders toppled Northern Kentucky, 72-57.
