Texas Tech dropped the first game of the CWS to Michigan today after a game where Texas Tech committed 1 error and missed several other tough plays while allowing 2 unearned runs in a 5-3 loss. The defensive miscues were compounded by the team going 0-7 with runners in scoring position, not that Michigan was worlds better at 2-12.

Brian Klein and Braxton Fulford were the only two Red Raiders to muster multiple base hits and only two walks were drawn by Red Raiders as opposed to the five free passes given up by Texas Tech. In a delicate game of give and take Michigan took more often than Texas Tech did today.

The bullpen worked a full six innings today after Micah Dallas "over-competed" in his start according to his head coach Tim Tadlock. Conner Queen, Dane Haveman, John McMillon and Taylor Floyd all got at least an inning with none of them giving up an earned run.

This is a definite upset loss for Texas Tech who will have to regroup and play through the losers bracket with the next game on Monday at 1:00. A win or go home matchup against the loser of the Florida State vs Arkansas game.
