Texas Tech Baseball Steals Home On Clueless Longhorn
The Red Raiders and Texas Longhorns started a series tonight and the Red Raiders and Longhorns put on an absolute show in front of a sellout crowd in Lubbock. Texas Tech starter Andrew Morris started the Longhorns off with a bomb over the right-field fence. The Longhorns would get two more runners on via the walk before Morris got two strikeouts to end the first.
In the bottom of the first, Easton Murrell would tie the game immediately with a home run of his own.
Two batters later, the Red Raiders took the lead with another solo shot, this time from Jace Jung. Whilst running the bases, Jung said something to every single Longhorn on the field and then to the entire Longhorn dugout down the third base line. I'm not lip reader, but I believe he was just reminding the Longhorns that Dan Law was his house.
Hudson White would hit another solo home run in the second inning to give the Red Raiders a 3-1 lead. After the shaky first inning from Morris, he'd hang zeros through the sixth inning working around baserunners through most innings. Through the same amount of innings, Texas Tech would have zero base runners.
In the 7th, Colin Clark would surrender another solo shot to the Longhorns before getting out of the inning on an absolute web gem from Dillon Carter in center field.
Back-to-back Longhorn home runs would give the away team their first lead of the game in the 8th inning, but Carter's swinging bunt and an error would retie the game heading into the 9th inning. Hudson White scored from third after walking and advancing to third on an error during a stolen base attempt.
The only baserunner of the game for Texas Tech up until this point, but the drama was just getting started.
Josh Sanders would enter the 9th inning and surrender a double but keep the game tied.
Another Red Raider three up three down offensive inning brought Sanders back into the game where he'd return the favor working a ground out before striking out the final two Longhorn batters of the game.
In the bottom of the 10th inning, Kurt Wilson and Owen Washburn would open the inning with back-to-back walks. Hudson White would bunt the pair over with great execution. A Parker Kelly strikeout would set up Dillon Carter with two-outs.
With an 0-2 count and the game in the balance Kurt Wilson stole home with the Texas Longhorns pitcher not even making a play.
The pitcher never even looked up. Incredible.
The team spilled onto the field and toward the Longhorns dugout.
Pure joy.
Another angle.
The Red Raiders and Longhorns will be back at it for two more in a pivotal Big 12 series in March.
