This week Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton went on CNN to show that the bill was supported by a majority of voters.Paxton told CNN host Alisyn Camerota, "We passed a constitutional amendment in 2005, it was overwhelmingly approved by the voters."  Camerota pointed out that recent polls have shown support for same-sex marriage was evenly split.

The argument got more contentious as it went along. Camerota asked Paxton "Aren't you saying that the gays and lesbians in your state are not as valued as heterosexuals because they can't form a union?"

Paxton responded, “All the Legislature has done in the past is try to reflect the values that have been in this state and this country for over two centuries."
