Texas Girl Allegedly Kicked Off Cheer Team Over Curly Hair

The 11-year-old girl from Tomball, Texas was asked to straighten her hair to look like the other girls on squad.

Fox San Antonio reports that the dispute led to her dismissal from the team. Makayla Fallow's mother said her hair is the source Makayla's strength and confidence.

The school's Elite Cheer coach Kevin Tonner says that cheerleaders know that in this sport there are certain makeup and hairstyles you have to wear for a coherent team look.

There was a meeting held and a compromise offered, but the Fallows refused to go along with it.

Tonner said she was released from the team for more than just the hair issue, the team didn't want that negative energy around either. He said that during the compromise meeting they became very defensive.
