Texas Father Who Carved Pentagram on Son Goes on Trial This Week
The incident happened three years ago, but Brent Bartel was found incompetent to stand trial several times. That's all changed now.
Fox News 4 reports that last year, Bartel was healthy enough to stand trial for aggravated assault of a family member with a deadly weapon.
Police say Bartel had called 911 in Richland Hills three years ago and told the dispatcher that he had used a box cutter to carve a pentagram on his 6-year-old son's back. He told the dispatcher "it's a holy day."
"I shed some innocent blood, I inscribed a pentagram on my son," Bartel told them.
The boy survived the ordeal, and Bartel has since been diagnosed with schizophrenia, which is why he was previously found incompetent for trial.
A pentagram is often associated with Satanic imagery.
