They were cleaning up after the October floods and a moving company packed up some furniture for them... including "Toot" the cat.KVUE  reports the Placek family from Elgin, Texas, was at a loss after their pet went missing.  They looked everywhere and finally assumed the cat had wandered into a wooded area and was killed by wild animals.

Almost a week had past when they got an unexpected call from the moving company asking them if they had a cat. After six days without food or water one of the workers heard the cat moving in the crate.

The family was ecstatic, especially since they had just put their dog down earlier this fall. George Placek is a disabled veteran who has developed a close relationship to his pet.

The family believes this was a Christmas miracle and the cat has a guardian angel. They also think he may have used up at least one of his nine lives.

Toot has lost some weight but appears to be fine. He seems to be happy to be home, but if I know cats he may be plotting some revenge against the worker who closed him in the box.
