Texas DPS Schedules ‘No Refusal’ Weekend in Lubbock
The Texas Department of Public Safety, along with Lubbock Police, Texas Tech Police, and the Lubbock County Sheriff’s office, have scheduled a "no refusal" weekend from Nov. 9 - 11.
Over the weekend, authorities who pull drivers over for driving while intoxicated and are served a search warrant will be required to submit blood draws.
The goal of this exercise is to reduce DWI-related traffic crashes on the South Plains.
Texas DPS reports in 2017, there were 340 alcohol-related crashes in Lubbock County that resulted in 17 deaths, 21 serious injuries, and 67 minor injuries.
