A 16-year-old employee of a local United Supermarkets was randomly assaulted while she was returning a cart to the store.

KAMC News reports it happened at the location on 4th Street and Milwaukee Avenue the night of Sunday, December 12th.

The employee was returning a cart when she says that multiple men pulled up next to her, jumped out of the vehicle and struck her in the head with an unknown object. Immediately after, the men drove away.

Witnesses at the scene said that the vehicle in question was a gold Tahoe that was occupied by multiple young boys.

The victim's father was critical of United, despite them working with police to try and locate the suspects. He thought that United should have been more mindful of the safety of teenagers working at night.

United has since released a statement saying the following:

The safety of our team members and our guests is our top priority, and we are saddened by the news of this senseless act. We have been in touch with the family to offer our support and are thankful that our team member was not seriously injured. Our company is bolstering the security in our parking lots and working closely with the Lubbock Police Department on their active investigation.

As of Wednesday, December 15th, no arrests have been made. Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call Crime Line at 806-741-1000 or the Lubbock Police Department at 806-775-2865.
