Last week JB and the Moonshine Band enjoyed their third consecutive No.1 single off of "Beer for Breakfast. This week Granger Smith looks to overtake the guys and score his first ever. It wasn't long ago Cody, Cody, John, Jeff and Gary of Whiskey Myers were playing to sparse crowds anywhere they could plug in, in and around Tyler. Now it's a critically acclaimed album, Rock 'n Roll cruises, chart topping singles, and a blossoming national fan base. This week the guys went home, to play before a capacity crowd at Cowboy's in Tyler. But not before their episode of Concrete Country

They released their debut album, “Bossier City” in 2007. By 2012, with their third album “Goodbye Normal Street” in tow, the Turnpike Troubadours established themselves as a premiere band in the Texas/Red Dirt scene. For proof look no further than that “Goodbye Normal Street” was the No. 1 selling album of the year at Lone Star Music.

Casey Donahew, Stoney LaRue, Turnpike Troubadours, Whiskey Myers and The Dirty River boys highlight an all star Texas and Red Dirt takeover on the first season of a brand new prime-time series on CMT called Concrete Country.

The Randy Rogers Band is one of the biggest names on the Texas music scene, and this year they'll headline the 32 annual Kalf Fry on Friday, November 2, at the Lone Star Amphitheater.

The Turnpike Troubadours have released their first music video ever as CMT debuted 'Gin, Smoke, Lies', yesterday. The single hit #1 on both the TexNet 50 and the Texas Music Chart earlier this summer.

The music that comes out of Texas and Oklahoma only continues to grow bigger and better. 2012 could easily be the biggest year for music on the scene and these seven artists are truly leading the way. That's not to say that there aren't talented musicians and other fantastic records being made. This just means these are the seven we can't put down for 2012.

We asked our listeners and fans to vote on what they thought was the best TX/Red Dirt song of the year and vote they did. For a week straight voters sounded off and made it a close race between the Casey Donahew Band and the Randy Rogers Band. The votes were tallied and 99.5 The Bear is proud to announce that the Casey Donahew Band's "Breaks My Heart" was voted song of the year.
