Lubbock Power and Light is lowering a portion of the electric rate for the summer, which makes the sixth overall rate decrease during the past three years.

During the hottest months of the year, the reduction in the power cost recovery factor portion of the rate for electricity may not reflect a substantial difference in your overall bill, but those who are using more energy while staying at home, either voluntarily or involuntary, can be thankful for the help in lowering some costs for utilities.

The city utility is "committed to providing our customers with safe, affordable and reliable power", said David McCalla, director of utilities, according to a press release from LP&L.
