Texas Tech's Steven Gingery was named to the 2018 Perfect Game/Rawlings Preseason All-America list this morning. Gingery was the only pitcher from the Big 12 to be selected to the first team. In his sophomore campaign, Gingery was nothing short of brilliant. He became the program’s first unanimous First Team All-American and was also awarded Big 12 Pitcher of the Year and College Baseball Foundation’s National Pitcher of the Year.

Gingery tallied a 10-1 record with a 1.58 ERA in over 91 innings of work for Texas Tech. He struck out 107 batters, allowed 29 walks, and held opponents to a .186 batting average. He leads a strong 2018 Texas Tech pitching staff, and overall team, that looks to get back to Omaha after their 2017 season was cut short at home in Lubbock in Regional play.

Gingery and the Red Raiders are set to open the 2018 campaign on Friday, Feb. 16, against Maine, at 2 p.m. at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
