State Representative John Frullo surprised many on Thursday when he announced he would not be seeking re-election in 2022 to the Texas House in HD-84. Frullo announced his retirement from the Texas House on social media, then joined The Chad Hasty Show Thursday evening to discuss why he is leaving and to look back on his time in office.

Frullo told Hasty that for him it was time to move on and start a new chapter in his life.

Part of it comes back to being down there for the last 9 1/2 months and the things that we worked on and just what it takes away from everything else and I've done that for ten years now and through six sessions and I think eight special sessions. And I was looking at you know it takes a lot of work to do this job right and to do it as a person who is really concerned with the community, the place that they live and wanting to things for the right reasons. It takes a lot of work. I was thinking I may want to do something else, turn a different chapter, or move on to a different season.

Frullo talked about how honored he was to have the support and vote of the people. In an earlier KFYO story, Frullo laid out some of the things he was proud to have worked on. He also told Hasty that he was very proud of the bill he passed combating child pornography and trafficking called Alisha's Law.

Frullo also voiced concern about increasing polarization in the Texas Legislature. Frullo said that it isn't anywhere close to Washington, D.C. but that it has increased since he has been in office.
