It's a new year which means it's officially January and that can only mean one thing, donating that precious pomegranate red stuff in your veins. Your blood. I am not a vampire, I just like pomegranates, but January is National Blood Donor Month and it's the time when hospitals are in need of blood for patients in need.

There is currently a blood shortage across the country so all blood types, such as blood types A, B, AB, and O, are currently needed by hospitals at the start of a new year. Vitalant, formerly United Blood Services, is where you can go to donate blood in Lubbock by just making an appointment. Before making an appointment to donate blood it is advised to go online to the Vitalant website to see if you are eligible to donate blood in the first place.

If you have never donated blood Vitalant has a video that explains how easy it is to donate blood and what they need from you before you step into their building. If you are not sure what your blood type is they can help you find your blood type, like they did for me, at your appointment so next time you give blood the process can be even faster.
