Gunnar Hansen, Star of ‘Texas Chainsaw Massacre,’ Dies at Age 68
Gunnar Hansen played the iconic Leatherface in the 1974 classic.
USA TODAY reports he passed away from pancreatic cancer at his home in Maine over the weekend.
His agent Mike Eisenstadt confirmed his death, adding that his character "is one of the most iconic evil figures in the history of cinema."
Texas Chainsaw Massacre was directed by Tobe Hooper. It was loosely based on true events of a family of grave-robbing cannibals.
It was one of the first horror movies I saw when I was growing up and it haunts me to this day. It's low-budget, grainy feel was simply horrifying. It still remains one of the most brutal movies ever filmed. You will never be able to wipe the images from your mind.
